About This Product
During reflux the vapour from the heated flask rises into the condenser, cools and drips into the graduated trap, where the immiscible liquids separate with water below and solvent above. Once the liquid reaches the side-arm the lighter solvent flows back to the flask while water stays in the trap. When the water itself reaches the side-arm level, the trap is drained into a receiving flask through its stopcock. Beyond India, the Dean and Stark Apparatus is available for export to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Suriname, Saint Lucia and Cyprus.
