How to choose a model

• Heating or stirring: choose a hot plate for heating only, a magnetic stirrer for mixing at room temperature, or a hot plate magnetic stirrer when a solution must be heated and stirred together.
• Top plate: cast iron on the round and rectangular hot plates, glass ceramic with resistance to strong acids and bases on the advanced ceramic models, and ceramic-coated stainless steel on the hotplate stirrers.
• Temperature control: rotary switches on the round and rectangular hot plates, an energy regulator on the general purpose model, and PID control on the digital rectangular hot plate and the advanced stirrers.
• Speed and volume: the Magnetic Stirrer runs from 50 to 1500 rpm and stirs up to 2 litres, the Motorless Magnetic Stirrer from 100 to 900 rpm, and the Vortex Mixer from 0 to 2500 rpm.

The Hot Plate General Purpose and the Laboratory Digital Rectangular Hot Plate list a maximum surface temperature of 350°C, and the Hotplate and Magnetic Stirrer has a separate safety circuit that stops heating at 350 degrees. The Laboratory Round Hot Plate reaches about 300°C.
